What should I wear?
Please know that we are interested in you and your personal relationship with Jesus Christ at FBBC. Much more so than we are with whether you are wearing jeans and a t-shirt, or a shirt and tie. In general, people dress in a variety of ways at our services. Some feel more comfortable dressing up for church, while others do not have that emphasis. Overall, the tone of our service would be considered “business casual.” But again, you can wear either attire to our services because YOU are more important to us than what you are wearing.
How long will services last?
Sunday morning worship starts at 10:30 a.m. We usually spend around 30 minutes worshiping the Lord with songs and praises. After that, we spend about 45 minutes listening and responding to the compelling teaching of God’s Word. In general, we are finished with our Sunday morning service by noon.
Is there anything going on for my kids and teenagers?
Absolutely! There are activities and classes for children and teens occurring at the same time as adult services. For example, on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings there are services and Bible Studies for adults, as well as activities and classes for children and teens. We even provide childcare for infants and toddlers! To learn more details regarding specific activities for children and teens, please go to the youth page.
What kind of worship style do you have?
At FBBC, it is not our focus to ENTERTAIN Christians, but to TRAIN them. Our worship style is a bit different in that we worship in an energetic and exciting environment, while singing traditional psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Our worship service is a lively and vibrant time of sincere focus and praise of Jesus Christ. Our goal is not to create a production, but an atmosphere that exalts the name of Jesus Christ.
How do I find my way around on Sunday morning?
When you walk into our building on Sunday morning you will be greeted at the door by individuals ready to make your visit a great one. They will let you know where to find all the necessary classrooms and facilities. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask them, as they would love to assist you any way.
Does your church provide counseling?
Yes. Our church provides pastoral counseling for anyone who is in need. Our pastor has years of experience helping people just like you with a variety of struggles. We also are a great resource to help you find counselors perfectly suited to meet your needs. We are here to help you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about your counseling needs.
How do I become a member of FBBC?
There are two different ways for you to join our church.
First, you may join by professing faith in Jesus Christ and following Him in baptism. Our pastor would be glad to talk with you if you are interested in doing this, but don’t understand exactly what it all means.
Also, you may join as a believer from another church on the testimony of your faith experience in Christ and your baptism by immersion. In joining this way, you would be joining by the statement of your faith.
If you are not sure which way you should join, please feel free to speak to someone regarding your desire and we will help you with the rest! Please, contact us by clicking here for more information about church membership.
What does FBBC teach and believe?
At FBBC we teach and belief the spiritual truths found in the Bible. Therefore all of what we teach and belief is based on the Scriptures that God has given to us.
We know that by testament of the Bible that the Holy Scriptures weregiven by inspiration and are profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction in righteousness (II Timothy 3:15,16). The Holy Scriptures also give the man of God the ability to be perfect, thoroughly furnishedunto all good works (II Timothy 3:17). We also know that Christians are commanded to study and rightly divide the Word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). The Bible instructs Christians to hold fast to the faithful Word which will give them the ability, by sound doctrine, to exhort and convince the gainsayer (Titus 1:9).
Forthwith is a clear declaration of the things which we most surely know, and believe, and are taught by First Bible Baptist Church...
...God the Father
There is only one true God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. Thus, He is all powerful and all wise. God has manifested Himself by many names in the Old Testament. We believe in the trinity in unity.
Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. He was virgin born and perfectly sinless. He came to Israel to confirm the promises made to the Old Testament fathers. He died for all mankind.
...The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is also God. His activity today is to indwell all believers and enlighten them to the glories of Christ through the written word of God. He edifies, convicts, empowers and comforts the believer. The Holy Spirit indwells and seals all believers at the point of regeneration. Evidence of His indwelling is found in Galatians 5:22.
Man is a direct creation of God. He was made in God’s image but lostthat image by the fall. He is totally depraved and incapable of bettering his fallen nature. In short, there is nothing in man that would commend him to God.
To be saved means to be delivered from perishing. Jesus saw the lostas a harvest about to perish. He came to seek and save the lost. He paid for the sins of the world by His death on the cross. His precious and perfect blood atoned for our sins. All who accept Him as their Lord and Savior by faith, are saved from perishing in hell. The following is sufficient to save all sinners. Romans 10:9-13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” We believe the saved are eternally secure and have everlasting life.
...Heaven and Hell
We believe heaven and hell are real places. They are not a state of mind. London is a place. Hong Kong is a place. Seattle is a place. Heaven is a place. Hell is a place. Jesus said concerning heaven, “I go to prepare a place for you.” Jesus was clear that hell is a place of fire and suffering. He preached more about hell than He did about heaven. The saved go to heaven. The lost are doomed in hell.
We believe all saved people of this dispensation are members of Christ’s body which is His church. Local churches were established and pastors called to minister to the saved. The church’s purpose is to edifythe saints and reach a lost world.
We believe new converts should be baptized in water to picture theiridentification with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
We believe the Lord’s supper demonstrates the unity among believers in Jesus Christ. Believers who die to self in order to maintain unity with the brethren “show the Lord’s death” till He comes.
The Bible is the word of God. He promised to preserve His word for every generation. Psalm 12:6-7, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” We believe the King James Bible constitutes those“words”.
We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman; and that God has commanded that no sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe the body of Christ will be raptured to be with the Lord. This will be followed by seven years of tribulation in which the Jews will be the chief object of Satan’s wrath. The Antichrist will rise to power, only to be destroyed by the return of Jesus Christ in power and glory to reign on earth for one thousand years from Jerusalem. At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be loosed and will lead a rebellion against Jesus Christ. Fire will come down from heaven and destroy him and his armies. There will be a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness will reign for ever and ever
